Ibn Thaabit

Hello everyone!

It is now quickly creeping up to the end of our second term and we are all very excited and keen to keep learning. There are still so many things to look forward to and LEARN! Here is what we have been up to this half term!

In Literacy we have been learning about different stories, from traditional tales to fantasy worlds. In particular we enjoyed Alice in Wonderland, creating our own fantasy worlds to describe and eating cakes to see if we all shrank like Alice!

We have read the following stories:

  • The Gingerbread Man
  • The Monkey Puzzle
  • Alice in Wonderland

We have been learning about Kings and Queens and we were lucky enough to visit Lancaster Castle and we even get locked in a pitch black cell! We also had our very own kings and queens royal banquet and came to school dressed as kings and queens. We have learnt a lot about the royal family tree and have written our very own letters to the Queen!

In the afternoons we have been concentrating on these topics:

Science: Materials and magnetism
History: Kings and Queens
Art: Sculptures
Music: Playing with sounds
Computing: We are painters

Our focus this half term was ‘Sculptures’. We learnt alot about different sculptures and the materials used. We then made our very own royal crowns as part of our topic work on Kings and Queens.

On the 9th February we all took part in Safer Internet Day. We created our own posters to inform others how we can stay safe on the internet and what we can use the internet for. We are now all able to use the internet safely!
