Ibn Zubayr Spring 1

A huge hello from Ibn Zubayr.

It’s been a fantastic half term for all the children and staff in Ibn Zubayr. All the children are extremely happy at the Olive school, walking in with a beautiful smile ready to learn new and wonderful things!

Take a look at what Ibn Zubayr have been getting up to in our classroom.

In Literacy, as part of our Arctic Topic, we have been doing the story ‘The little lost penguin’. We have been learning lots of new vocabulary and thinking about the character’s feelings.

This is Rayaan’s fantastic work. He has described the characters feelings, what he was thinking and what he was saying. Well done!

We have had a very busy half term in maths! We have been doing lots of work on using different methods for addition and subtraction. Towards the end of the term we also learnt all about measurements, we looked at capacity, weight, length and height. We had lots of fun ordering things from tallest to shortest and longest to shortest!

In ICT the children have been exploring a range of technology, they have used laptops, iPads and even recorders to explore all the different types of media.

In Topic this half term we have learnt all about the Arctic! We have looked at the Inuits that live in the Arctic and their habitats (igloos). We have also learned all about their means of transport and the food they eat to keep them warm! We had a fantastic Super learning day where we tried Arctic foods such as sea weed and soup and did some exciting activities such as fishing!

Trip to the museum!

On our trip to the museum we learnt all about old and new toys. We had a go at playing with some and then we also had a chance to make our very own toy.
