Wearing woollies raises mammoth amount for older people

Spring has finally sprung and the weather is getting warmer but pupils recently raised money for Age Concern Blackburn with Darwen by donning their favourite knits.

Following the Wear It Woolly Day, the children presented the charity with a cheque for £361.86.

Principal Smeena Riaz said:

“The children looked so bright and colourful in their woolly jumpers. It was such a lovely way to raise money for such a worthwhile cause. Thank you so much to Age Concern for coming into school to say thank you to the pupils.”

Elaine Jennings, Head of Business Development at Age Concern Blackburn with Darwen, said:

“We are delighted that The Olive School, Blackburn chose to support us, it was a fun way to highlight a serious cause. We are a local independent charity that has to raise all its own funds and monies raised will support our local services for older people including those living with dementia in Blackburn with Darwen.”
