Ofsted

As a Free School, success is validated by an Ofsted inspection within 18 months of opening.

In the meantime, we take advantage of Star’s proven school improvement system which has delivered outstanding outcomes in other Star schools. Pupil attainment and teaching standards are kept under constant review and we carry out regular self-evaluations. We also get termly visits from our Quality Standards Adviser (QSA), a highly experienced educationalist. QSA visits identify excellent teaching or any falling below the required standard, with improvements carried out through a robust coaching programme.

The QSA uses a set of quality standards, which define best practice in:

  • Student attainment and achievement
  • Learning and teaching
  • Student behaviour for learning
  • Safeguarding
  • Student attendance
  • Governance
  • Strategic planning
  • Monitoring and self-evaluation
  • Performance management
  • Line management
  • Professional development
  • Curriculum
  • Assessment and student tracking
  • Reporting
  • Communication and consultation
  • Finance
  • Ethos, spirituality and community spirit

Our consistent and rigorous internal monitoring and evaluation against the standards helps the QSA assess the strength of the school’s leadership and management of teaching and learning.
